Launch AOL Desktop Gold and log-in with your username and password.
Hit the AOL Chat icon.
Choose if you want to join a chat room created by AOL or by the people. Click one of the available options

Created by People Connection' or 'Created by AOL Members'.

Look for a particular chat room

If you are aware of the name of a chat room, say you friend told you that he created a chat room on AOL and you want to join the same. You can search for that particular chat room by making use of the Chat Finder feature. Play along with the steps below:

Once you logged-in to AOL Gold, click on the AOL Chat icon.

Enter the name of the requested chat room in the search box at the top of the window.

If you find content in an AOL Chat which seems to violate the AOL Terms of Service, let the AOL know at once. If the content depicts vulgar language, graphic description of sexual content or violence, hate speech or harassment, report to the AOL following the steps below:

During the chat, select a username from the 'People Here' list.
Highlight the part of the conversation which is breaching.
Hit ‘Notify AOL’.

The ‘Notify AOL’ button will appear again once the timer gets to 0. You will be able to submit other reports now.
